STALLIONS

INFANTE XXXVIII (imp Spain)
By Lotero II from Infanta XXIV
Homozygous grey, 2001, 16.2hh appx., PRE (Apt.), AHAA, ACE & EA

Infante is a tall (16.2hh) P.R.E stallion with incredible bone, great beauty and presence. He embodies all a PRE horse should be. From the coveted lines of Spanish Military breeding - which are sought after for dressage movement - Infante shows elasticity, expression and cadence. He has a particularly excellent canter.

Despite searching throughout Australia for a P.R.E horse, I was unable to find a horse that 'ticked all the boxes' and although faced with the expense of importation, I decided to continue my search overseas.

Infante was bred at Yeguada Ovelar in the Aranjuez region of Spain, in 2001. This stud has concentrated decades of breeding on dressage performance. Infante’s sire, Lotero II is the sire of over 90 horses, and produces horses that excel in both Young Horse Dressage and at FEI level. They all have a trademark trot and canter.

Infante competed successfully in Young Horse Dressage throughout Spain, and in 2008 was listed by the Department of Agriculture in Spain as a “Recommended Sire of Dressage Horses” with a rating of ‘excellent’ due to his consistent performances.

He currently trains at Medium level, and is doing piaffe and passage with ease. Due to breeding commitments, and our own work commitments, Infante has only been lightly competed since his arrival in Australia. However, we do plan to compete more comprehensively in 2010.

Infante stood 2 seasons at public stud, however he is no longer available to outside mares.

IMPREVISTO VII  (imp IIU Spain)
By Especial IV from Leyenda XXXVIII
Heterozygous grey (pearl gene), 2009, mat. Appx. 15.3hh PRE (Apt.)

Imprevisto was imported in utero in June 2009. Although only a foal, he shows all the hallmarks of a future stallion worthy of making a considerable impact on the PRE breed here in Australia. Only time will tell.

He is by show winning stallion, Especial IV, a rare double pearl (grey gene) PRE, standing at Yeguada Las Cadenas, Spain. Especial was shown extensively as a young horse with success, scoring well for both movement and conformation.

Imprevisto’s dam, Leyenda XXXVIII, was also shown as a young filly, winning gold medals in movement and conformation classes.

Imprevisto was born in October 2009 and his colour was a cause for much speculation. He arrived into the world a creamy buckskin with primitive markings, however he tested negative for the cream and dun gene, but positive for the grey gene, and remarkably, he carries a rare pearl gene. He is slowly turning grey but still retains a gold sheen.

Elegant, with abundant presence, Imprevisto is every bit the show horse. He has fabulous air time in trot and a rocking horse canter that is both graceful and expressive. His head, neck and rump are incredible.

We look forward to a successful future with this lovely young colt.
