MARES

Our mares are all Revised PRE mares, admitted to the Spanish Studbook, and given breeding permits by ANCCE (Spain). We have one imported mare and, from time to time, homebred PRE mares. We also occasionally breed with quality TB or WB mares.

I believe a mare puts in over 60% of herself genetically, and the fact that she rears her foal for six months also has an impact on how the foal develops psychologically and physically.

All our mares, PRE or other breed, have expressive movement and temperaments that are easy to work with. They are sound, well conformed and are proven broodmares, with excellent legs and feet.

LEYENDA XXXVIII (Imp Spain)

By Clavijo I from Caminera IV

Bay (EEAA) 2005 15.2 ½ hh PRE (Apt.)

This mare was imported from Spain in June 2009, in foal. She is a most beautiful mare, with super type and spectacular movement, which has to be seen to be appreciated.

She is a Gold Medal show winner, and from a line of horses that are known as movement producers. Her dam was bred by Cubas Stud, a stud that has won many prestigious Best Breeder awards, and her granddam was bred by Yeguada Aimaran – a farm that produces mostly Carthusian horses highly successful in dressage.

Leyenda’s sire, Clavijo, has stock exported throughout Europe, with a young son recently winning the Champion Youngstock Movement award against a strong field of mature horses. Clavijo’s full sister, Mundaca II is a multiple champion in movement and conformation classes, and has earned herself elite qualified status.

Leyenda’s first foal, imported in utero, is sensational, so we are very excited to see what she will produce to Infante XXXVIII (imp).
