MARES

Our mares are all Revised PRE mares, admitted to the Spanish Studbook, and given breeding permits. We have one imported mare and two homebred mares.

We have chosen a uniform type of mare to complement Infante, so we can breed the style of horse we like, with less disparity in type. I believe a mare puts in over 60% of herself genetically, and the fact that she rears her foal for six months also has an impact on how the foal develops psychologically and physically.

All our mares have expressive movement and temperaments that are easy to work with. They are compact, with the classic symmetry of curves as expected of the breed. They are sound, well conformed and are proven broodmares, with excellent legs and feet.

LEYENDA XXXVIII (Imp Spain)

By Clavijo I from Caminera IV

Bay (EEAA) 2005 15.2 ½ hh PRE (Apt.)

This mare was imported from Spain in June 2009, in foal. She is a most beautiful mare, with super type and spectacular movement, which has to be seen to be appreciated.

She is a Gold Medal show winner, and from a line of horses that are known as movement producers. Her dam was bred by Cubas Stud, a stud that has won many prestigious Best Breeder awards, and her granddam was bred by Yeguada Aimaran – a farm that produces mostly Carthusian horses highly successful in dressage.

Leyenda’s sire, Clavijo, has stock exported throughout Europe, with a young son recently winning the Champion Youngstock Movement award against a strong field of mature horses. Clavijo’s full sister, Mundaca II is a multiple champion in movement and conformation classes, and has earned herself elite qualified status.

Leyenda’s first foal, imported in utero, is sensational, so we are very excited to see what she will produce to Infante XXXVIII (imp).

AUSTRALIS ROMANZA (Bred in Vic, Australia)

By Romerito I.A.P from El Caballero Danza

Bay 2001 15.2hh PRE (Apt.), AHAA

Romanza is a granddaughter of 1994 Champion Spanish stallion, Poderoso XIV and her sire Romerito (currently standing at Fantasy Equine) also won the Best Progeny Group at the same Show, under world Iberian specialist judge Lady Sylvia Loch.

Romanza is a sibling to 2005 National Champion stallion “Australis Romanzo” (currently standing at Yalkin Stud), “Australis Conquesto”, three times National Champion Led Partbred Gelding and Reserve Champion Partbred Ridden twice, “Australis Raro Tesoro” 2006 State Supreme Champion Spanish Gelding, “Australis Danzarito” State Champion Ridden 2008 and “Mocoso” State Champion Spanish & Best Movement 2009.

Typical of the Maluso influence through Romerito, Romanza has ground covering movement with lovely cadence and swing. She is short-coupled and broad with good bone and a lovely head and neck. Although she has only a basic saddle education, she is a lovely mare to ride.

Romanza will be bred to Infante XXXVIII (imp) either this season or later this year.

EL CABALLERO DANZA (Bred in Vic, Australia)

By Corveto IV from Jacaranda XII

Bay 1991 15.2hh PRE (Apt.), AHAA

Danza is the dam of 7 foals, 3 of whom have won State and National Championships. Her sire, Corveto IV is also the sire of El Caballero Ambassador, one of the top scoring stallions  in Revision in Australasia! Danza’s progeny have always won or placed highly in Progeny classes under local and overseas judges.

Danza has elevated, expressive movement and a kind, gentle nature. Although an old lady now, she is broken to saddle and is a popular choice for the young kids to plod around on.

In a joint venture with Australis Stud, we are hoping to produce some quality foals from Danza and Infante.

Danza will be bred to Infante XXXVIII (imp).
